Newark High School senior Ethan Klock has been named the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Elmer J. Cunningham Educational Award.
Klock, the son of Elizabeth and James Crowley, will receive the award during Newark High School’s commencement ceremony. He plans to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology this fall, where he will major in computer science and political science while pursuing a minor in finance.
Klock graduates as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026 with a 99.36 grade point average.

The Elmer J. Cunningham Educational Award is funded through a trust established in the will of the late Clara F. Cunningham in memory of her brother, Elmer J. Cunningham, who served as the first principal of Lincoln School for more than 25 years.
Under the terms of the scholarship, the award is presented annually to a graduating senior who attended Lincoln Grammar School, has achieved the highest scholastic average during high school, and has been accepted to a college or university to continue their education.
School officials recognized Klock for his outstanding academic achievement and commitment to higher education as he prepares to begin the next chapter of his academic career at RIT.
