With scams and identity theft cases on the rise, local officials are inviting residents, especially seniors, to attend an upcoming presentation focused on recognizing and preventing financial fraud.

The Ontario County S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Council will host an informational session on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at Quail Summit, located at 5102 Parrish Street Extension in Canandaigua.

Organizers say the event will cover current scam and identity theft trends, practical prevention strategies, and steps to take if someone becomes a victim of financial abuse.

The presentation will feature Triciajean Saxton, Director of the Ontario County Office for the Aging, along with Sgt. Rob Griffin of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, who will provide insight into emerging scams and how residents can better protect themselves and their loved ones.

The session is open to the public and aims to raise awareness as scammers continue to use increasingly sophisticated tactics to target individuals, particularly older adults.
