A high-water advisory has been issued for Seneca and Cayuga lakes, as well as the Seneca-Cayuga Canal, following days of rising water levels.

According to the Seneca County Marine Patrol, conditions on the waterways have become hazardous, with significantly elevated water levels reported across the region.

Officials say the high water has already caused damage to private docks, boat hoists, and beaches. In addition, both floating and submerged debris have been observed, posing a risk to boaters.

Boaters are being urged to use extreme caution, remain alert for debris, and reduce speeds while navigating the waterways.

Authorities note that in some areas, water levels have risen enough to cover docks, further increasing the potential for hidden hazards.
