On Friday, Geneva Police arrested a 22-year-old Geneva resident following a reported domestic incident in progress on Lewis Street.

Officer Jace Parry reports that Nicholas Smith was taken into custody after an investigation determined he violated an active “refrain from” order of protection issued by the City of Geneva Criminal Court. According to police, Smith allegedly threw a table at a protected party, causing physical injury.

Investigators further determined that the protected party was holding a child under the age of 17 at the time the incident occurred.

Smith was charged with felony Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Harassment in the Second Degree.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
