Just in time for the new school year, Owasco Elementary’s new playground is officially complete.
A ribbon cutting on Wednesday marked the completion of the fourth in a series of investments in playgrounds at elementary schools across the school district.
The upgrades were part of this year’s Capital Improvement projects which also saw air units installed and parking lot work done at the high school, and roofing work at Genesee Elementary.
Work at Seward Elementary and the junior high school is ongoing with work expected to end in late September. Work at the junior high includes safety improvements to the building’s main office and vestibule while work at Seward includes parking lot work and adding a new student drop-off loop that will align with Mary Sreet.
Earlier this month, City Council approved changing the intersection of Mary St and Metcalf Drive to become a four-way stop to improve pedestrian safety near the school.
