Lunchtime Lecture Exploring 1973 Cayuga Museum Fire

SHARE NOW

An upcoming lecture will shed light on the Auburn Fire Department’s heroic efforts to save a city landmark.

The Cayuga Museum will host a lecture by Lieutenant Brian Jessie on the 1973 fire at the Cayuga Museum’s Willard-Case Mansion. The museum and its vast collection were nearly destroyed on September 13 of that year when a devastating fire ravaged the structure.

Taking place on September 10 at 12:00p, at the fire department’s Seminary Street, the lecture is free and open to the public as part of the museum’s lunchtime lecture series.

Museum programming will temporarily cease as it moves back into the Willard-Case mansion as work wraps up on the West End Arts Campus project.
