The Cayuga Museum will close up shop in downtown Auburn next month as it prepares for the unveiling of the West End Arts Campus.
The museum moved to the East Hill Medical Building in June to allow for construction on the project to improve accessibility and aesthetics at both the Willard-Case mansion and neighboring Scwheinfurth Arts Center, creating one ADA-accessible campus with improved parking and outdoor programming space.
While the Schweinfurth closed its galleries during construction, its clay studio, classes, gift shop, and offices remained open.
The museum’s final day downtown will be September 28. From there it will move back into the 203 Genesee St mansion it has called home since its founding in 1936 after the building was gifted to it by Ted and Gertrude Case.
An unveiling is anticipated for the West Ends Arts Campus in November.
