An Auburn area business is organizing a fundraiser for the families of the two law enforcement officers slain last week in Salina.

Mariah Quigley is the owner of Phat Kat Taco Truck. Speaking with Finger Lakes News Radio, she said that she comes from a family of law enforcement officers, including her parents, brother, uncles, and cousins. One of her cousins was friends with Lieutenant Michael Hoosock and escorted his wife to the funeral.

Quigley said she felt compelled to help in any way she could.

“We wanted to give back in some way, so having the advantage of owning the food truck and being able to put something on to give back, I jumped on it immediately,” said Quigley. “We just want to help out as much as possible because I can’t imagine what the families are going through at this point.”

The fundraiser will take place on May 11 from 12:00-4:00p at Emerson Park. The event will feature food from Phat Kat Taco Truck and the Sip Company, music, and a bottle and can drive. Quigley added that other local businesses have helped with raffles that will be at the event.

“Local companies from Auburn have actually donated several things like gift certificates,” Quigley continued. “Lowes is doing a griddle. We have so much being offered.”

All Money will go to the families of the late Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Michael Hoosock and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen.
