Former Mentz Town Supervisor Admits to Sex Crime

A guilty plea from a former town supervisor in Cayuga County charged in March with a sex crime involving a child.

The Citizen reports Richard Nielens, Junior admitted to a felony charge of disseminating indecent material to a minor. The 65-year-old will be sentenced to two years in state prison in August.

Nielens was Mentz Town Supervisor from 2016 to 2021 and also served on the town board.
