Cayuga County has been awarded $3.1 million in federal funding to replace the Deauville Island Bridge at Emerson Park, county officials announced Friday.
The funding comes through the Northern Border Regional Commission and will support the replacement of the bridge that serves as the primary connection to Deauville Island within Emerson Park.
County officials say the project is aimed at improving safety, maintaining public access, and supporting the long-term future of the park as a regional recreation and tourism destination.
Cayuga County Legislature Chairman Jonathan Anna said the investment represents a significant step in preserving one of the county’s key public assets while reducing the burden on local taxpayers.
He also thanked the Northern Border Regional Commission and congressional representatives for supporting infrastructure investments across the region.
Officials said the project will help improve critical infrastructure at the park and support continued tourism and economic activity, though a construction timeline has not yet been announced.
Additional details are expected to be released as the project moves forward.
