Drivers in the Town of Canandaigua should prepare for a long-term road closure beginning next week.

Town officials announced that McIntyre Road will close starting on Wednesday as crews begin a road improvement project expected to last about one month. The work will include rebuilding road shoulders, installing underdrains, cleaning roadside ditches, and paving the roadway with new asphalt once the other improvements are completed.

During construction, access will be limited to local traffic only.

Town officials are asking motorists to plan and use alternate routes whenever possible while the project is underway.
