The Auburn Fire Department is recognizing Firefighter Jeffrey Salvage as he retires after more than 22 years of service to the City of Auburn.

Salvage completed his final overnight shift this week, bringing to a close a career that began on March 31, 2004. During his time with the department, he served in each of Auburn’s fire companies, earning the respect of fellow firefighters across multiple stations and platoons.

For the past 14 years, Salvage has been assigned to A Platoon Engine Company 3, where he spent the majority of his firefighting career.

In addition to responding to emergencies, Salvage played a significant role in promoting firefighter health and wellness. As a certified Peer Fitness Trainer, he helped encourage physical fitness within the department and was instrumental in leading the fitness program for the Auburn Fire Department’s 2014 recruit class.

Department officials said Salvage’s impact extended beyond emergency scenes and training exercises. Colleagues described him as a dependable presence both on the fireground and around the station.

Outside of the fire service, Salvage is also known for his musical talents. He enjoys playing guitar and performs with the local band No Filter.

Over more than two decades with the department, Salvage responded to countless calls for service and worked alongside several generations of Auburn firefighters.

In a social media post marking his retirement, the Auburn Fire Department thanked Salvage for his dedication, friendship, and years of service to the Auburn community.
