Bargain hunters in Wayne County will soon have a new shopping destination.

The Village of Newark announced on Thursday that Ollie’s Bargain Outlet plans to open a new store in the Arcadia Shopping Plaza in late September.

Founded in 1982, Ollie’s specializes in selling overstock, closeout, and excess inventory merchandise at discounted prices. The company has grown into the nation’s largest discount retail chain of its kind, operating more than 600 stores across 34 states.

Village officials welcomed the announcement, saying the new store will provide residents with additional shopping options while bringing new activity to the plaza.

“We are excited that Ollie’s has chosen Newark,” Mayor Jonathan Taylor said. “Their commitment to providing high-quality products at affordable prices will make this store a favorite with Newark residents and the surrounding communities.”
