What a difference 24 hours makes — the Weather Center has been watching storm reports roll in across the region all day, and this evening we’re in the transition zone between what’s been an active afternoon and a much quieter night ahead. That said, the NWS Buffalo office notes ongoing storm development is still worth watching through the early evening hours, with strong winds the primary hazard as a cold front pushes through.
By 9 or 10 PM, the front should clear the Finger Lakes, and skies will begin to improve from west to east. Overnight lows settle near 68° in Geneva and Ithaca, dropping to the mid-60s in Corning and Bath where valley drainage will help temperatures slide a bit further. No frost risk tonight.
Wednesday tells a noticeably different story. High pressure builds behind the front, and Geneva tops out near 69° — a full 11 degrees cooler than today’s high of 80°. A slight chance of lingering drizzle hangs around Wednesday morning, but the afternoon should gradually clear. A gradual warm-up follows through the rest of the week, with highs climbing back to 80° by Friday and the lower 80s by the weekend.
