Heat Advisory in Effect for Ontario and Cayuga Counties Through Thursday

I’m keeping a close eye on the Heat Advisory that NWS Buffalo issued this afternoon — it runs through 8 PM Thursday for Ontario and Northern Cayuga counties, which puts Geneva and Auburn squarely in the crosshairs. Overnight tonight, don’t expect much relief: lows will only drop to the upper 60s regionwide, with muggy air and scattered showers lingering through the darkness. No frost risk whatsoever.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 11th, will be the warmest and most uncomfortable day of the stretch. Highs climb to near 86° in Geneva, and when you factor in the humidity, heat index values could touch the mid-90s during the afternoon. A 36% chance of showers remains in the mix. The NWS notes a strong cold front is poised to cross the region sometime Friday — if it moves faster, some of that heat eases sooner. For now, plan for a hot, sticky Thursday and check in on anyone without air conditioning.
