Syracuse Man Hospitalized After Striking Telephone Pole With Van

A white van sustained severe front-end damage, including a shattered windshield and deployed airbags, after striking a telephone pole in Syracuse, New York.

New York State Police say a Syracuse man was injured in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Cortland County.

Troopers from the Homer barracks were called to State Route 41 in the town of Homer around 8:15 a.m. for a report of a crash involving one vehicle.  Investigators determined that a Ryder rental van was traveling at an unsafe speed when it left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Kavion Rufus, suffered injuries and was transported by TLC Ambulance to SUNY Upstate University Hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.
