A Monroe County woman has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in a large-scale retail theft conspiracy that targeted major retailers across the region.
U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that 43-year-old Amanda Reeves, of Greece, was sentenced to 42 months in prison after previously being convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford also ordered Reeves to pay $92,903.34 in restitution to retailers, including Best Buy, Home Depot, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Target, and Walmart.
According to prosecutors, Reeves participated in a theft scheme that operated between December 2021 and October 2024 and involved the New York Gold Diamond Pawn Shop. The business was owned by co-defendant Dominic Sprague and managed by co-defendant James Civiletti.
Investigators said Reeves and others regularly stole new, unopened merchandise from retail stores and sold the items to the pawn shop for a fraction of their retail value. The pawn shop then resold the merchandise on eBay at significantly higher prices.
Federal authorities said the pawn shop purchased 37,936 stolen items from Reeves and her co-conspirators during more than 670 transactions. The group received approximately $290,000 for the stolen goods, while losses to retailers totaled an estimated $1.16 million.
Prosecutors also said Reeves used another person’s identification to conduct transactions at the pawn shop. In addition, court records indicate she led law enforcement on high-speed vehicle pursuits in both 2019 and 2024. Authorities said the chases were ultimately discontinued because of the danger posed to other motorists.
Sprague and Civiletti were previously convicted in connection with the scheme.
