The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has appointed Katherine Lindahl chair of its Board of Directors.
Lindahl’s appointment took effect July 1. She succeeds Diana Clarkson, who completed her term after helping lead the orchestra through a period of growth and transition. Clarkson will remain on the board as immediate past chair.
Lindahl served as chair-elect during the past year and has been an RPO board member since 2021. Her previous responsibilities included serving on the board’s executive and governance committees. She began her third consecutive three-year term this month.
Lindahl also brings more than 30 years of business leadership experience to the position.
She joined Rochester Midland Corporation, a family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer founded by her great-grandfather, in 1993. Lindahl held several leadership positions before being named co-chief executive officer in 2013.
She oversaw operations, manufacturing and strategic growth as the company expanded its international reach and served customers in nearly 70 countries. Lindahl helped oversee an executive transition following the company’s 2023 partnership with Peak Rock Capital and stepped down as CEO in 2024.
As board chair, Lindahl will work with the orchestra’s directors and executive leadership on its strategic priorities, community partnerships and long-term financial stability.
Incoming RPO President and CEO Tonya McBride Robles said Lindahl brings governance experience, vision and a strong commitment to the orchestra’s mission.
