New York State Police are seeking witnesses after a circus performer was struck by an arrow during a show at the Orange County Fair.
Troopers assigned to the fair responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday to the fairgrounds on Wisner Avenue in the Town of Wallkill.
Investigators said 42-year-old Ana Tavera and 38-year-old Edwin Rangel, both of Waukesha, Wisconsin, were performing for spectators when the incident occurred.
According to State Police, Daza Tavera fired an arrow at a foam target Cuervo Rangel was holding. The arrow struck and injured Cuervo Rangel.
He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and was listed in stable condition.
The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Middletown is continuing to investigate. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call investigators at 845-344-5300.
