Tickets are now on sale for direct Amtrak service to the Great New York State Fair.
Five trains will stop daily at the State Fairgrounds during the fair’s 13-day run, beginning Wednesday, August 26, and continuing through Labor Day, September 7.
The service allows visitors to arrive within walking distance of the fairgrounds without paying for parking or dealing with traffic. Select Empire Service and Maple Leaf trains will stop at the fair between the Rochester and Syracuse stations.
Travelers purchasing tickets online should select “NYF” as their destination. Tickets are available only for dates when the fair is open.
The daily schedule includes:
- Maple Leaf Train 63, departing New York City at 7:15 a.m. and arriving at the fair at 1:11 p.m.
- Maple Leaf Train 64, departing Toronto at 8:20 a.m. and arriving at 2:29 p.m.
- Empire Service Train 281, departing New York City at 10:20 a.m. and arriving at 4:21 p.m.
- Empire Service Train 283, departing New York City at 1:20 p.m. and arriving at 7:13 p.m.
- Empire Service Train 284, departing Niagara Falls at 6:27 a.m. and arriving at 9:29 a.m.
“Riding the rails gets you right to the fair’s doorstep without the hassles of driving,” Governor Kathy Hochul said. “It’s easy, convenient and affordable.”
Amtrak has offered direct service to the State Fair since 2002. Discounts are available for travelers who book online at least five days in advance, as well as children, seniors and members of the military.
Tickets can be purchased through Amtrak’s website or mobile app, at station ticket counters or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.
Adult admission to the State Fair is $8 plus fees. Admission is free for people 65 and older and children 12 and younger. Fair admission includes concerts at Chevy Court and Suburban Park, agricultural competitions, exhibits and other grounds entertainment.
