L3Harris Technologies has been awarded an $84 million contract from the U.S. Army to manufacture tactical communications equipment at its Rochester facility.

The company will produce Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) Falcon Manpack radio systems, which are designed to provide secure communications for soldiers in the field.

L3Harris said the work will be carried out on its high-volume production lines in Rochester, where the company employs more than 3,600 people from Monroe County and the surrounding region.

The award continues a series of military communications contracts secured by the company in recent years. In 2024, L3Harris received a $300 million Army contract to manufacture thousands of handheld, manpack, and small form fit radios. The company also received a $196 million Army contract in 2023, a Marine Corps contract worth up to $750 million in 2022, and a $345 million Army contract in 2021.

U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, who announced the latest award, said the contract reinforces Rochester’s role in developing advanced communications technology for the U.S. military.

L3Harris officials said the contract will support the company’s ongoing efforts to provide communications technology for American military personnel while sustaining manufacturing operations in the Rochester area.
