A tow truck hauling another vehicle struck an Interstate 81 overpass in Cicero late Thursday morning, damaging both the vehicle being transported and the bridge, according to New York State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 11:36 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 81 at the Taft Road bridge.
State Police said 34-year-old Adam Mullings of Syracuse was driving a 2002 International flatbed tow truck when he attempted to pass beneath the bridge while transporting a 2019 Ford F-550 on the flatbed. Investigators determined the Ford F-550 struck the underside of the bridge, causing damage to both the truck being transported and the overpass.
The New York State Department of Transportation was notified so the bridge could be inspected.
No injuries were reported.
Mullings was issued multiple traffic tickets in connection with the incident.
