A Fairport man faces multiple criminal charges following a shoplifting investigation at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Town of Victor.

Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Christopher Tennekoon, 39, on Saturday on charges of petit larceny, possession of burglar’s tools, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint regarding a suspicious male inside the business at Eastview Mall. Store loss prevention personnel reportedly observed Tennekoon concealing and stealing $94.98 worth of merchandise.

Deputies subsequently conducted a traffic stop on Tennekoon’s vehicle. Upon further investigation, he was allegedly found in possession of the stolen merchandise along with methamphetamine. Deputies also determined he was driving with a suspended license.

Tennekoon was transported to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Substation, where he was released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to answer the charges in Victor Town Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
