On Wednesday, deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Farmington man following an investigation into an incident at the Ontario County Jail.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., authorities arrested Kurtis Freeman, 34, following an investigation into criminal mischief that occurred at the jail facility. Investigators determined that Freeman intentionally damaged an electronic home monitoring ankle bracelet belonging to Ontario County Probation, which was valued at $800.00.

The damage allegedly occurred after Freeman had been arrested and booked into the Ontario County Jail on May 12. At the time of his arrest on Wednesday, Freeman was already incarcerated at the facility.

Freeman was charged with one count of criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony. He remains jailed awaiting arraignment and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hopewell Court at a later date to answer the charge.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
