The guilty plea entered this week by the Starkey man accused of sexually exploiting a child over a seven-year period in Yates County and the Southern Tier will all but certainly result in his incarceration for the rest of his life.
Andrew Daugherty pleaded guilty on Monday to felony charges of predatory sexual assault against a child, sex trafficking against a child, and compelling prostitution. He will be sentenced next month in Yates County Court to an aggregate term of 40 years to life behind bars.
Yates County District Attorney Todd Casella credits State Police investigators and troopers for building such an overwhelming case against Daughtery that he accepted a plea.
Casella added that while the plea goes a long way toward bringing some closure to the victim, there are still ten pending cases that need to be resolved.
