Yates County Fair Opens Wednesday, Celebrating 187 Years

The annual Yates County Fair opens Wednesday, kicking off four days of agricultural exhibits, livestock shows, entertainment, motorsports, and family activities at the fairgrounds in Penn Yan.

This year’s fair runs through Saturday and marks the fair’s 187th year. Fair gates open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the fair office opening at 9 a.m. The 4-H and exhibit hall opens from 1 to 4 p.m., while the Antique Tractor Pavilion opens at 4 p.m.

According to the fair schedule, general admission includes parking, musical entertainment, all grandstand events, daily shows and pig races. Children under 36 inches tall are admitted free.

Ride wristbands and individual ride tickets will be sold separately by the carnival company. Wristbands will be available Thursday through Saturday during designated hours.

Visitors can also enjoy livestock competitions, agricultural exhibits, youth events, food vendors, commercial exhibits and a variety of daily attractions throughout the fairgrounds.
