The Village of Victor will receive a major boost to its downtown after being awarded $4.5 million through New York’s NY Forward program.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the funding as part of a broader Finger Lakes investment that also includes $10 million for Batavia through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative and another $4.5 million for Irondequoit.

The funding for Victor will support efforts to strengthen its walkable Main Street corridor, expand housing opportunities and encourage small business growth. State officials say the village’s compact downtown already serves more than 20,000 residents and is positioned for continued investment.

Plans include improving connections between Main Street and key pedestrian pathways, including the Auburn Trail, while supporting redevelopment projects and new mixed-use housing.

“This is the result of strong collaboration—between residents, local leaders and state partners who believe in our future,” Victor Mayor Sean McAdoo said in a statement.

Victor was selected as one of the Finger Lakes winners of the fourth round of NY Forward, a program designed to help smaller and rural communities revitalize their downtowns. To qualify, municipalities must be certified under the state’s Pro-Housing Communities program, which encourages local efforts to expand housing supply.

State officials say projects funded through NY Forward and the Downtown Revitalization Initiative are aimed at creating more vibrant, connected downtowns while supporting long-term economic growth.

Victor will now begin developing a Strategic Investment Plan to determine how the funds will be used, with input from residents, community leaders and state planners.
