A local tourism agency has been recognized for one of its marketing campaigns.

Tour Cayuga has been named as a recipient of the statewide tourism excellence award for the Where You Go Matters, Make It Count marketing campaign. The award is presented by the New York State Tourism Industry Association.

Courtney Kasper, Tour Cayuga’s director, told FLX Local Media that they’re honored to be recognized for their work.

“We are extremely honored by receiving this award for a campaign that means a lot, not only to our office and the work that we do, but also to our community and how we continue to tell the history and and cultre here, especially as it relates to Harriet Tubman and her legacy and making sure we’re doing that authentically.”

Additionally, Kasper said that statistics from the campaign show that it outperformed travel and tourism standards.

The campaign, created by the Culturlist Group, centers on the legacy of Harriet Tubman in Auburn while also encouraging travellers to think more deeply about the meaning of the places they choose to visit.

The awards are open to all New York tourism professionals and organizations, and winners are determined through evaluation by industry experts.

“It seems that each year the standards of excellence recognized by the NYS Tourism Excellence Awards & Summit are both elevated and evolved,” observed Bob Provost, President of the New York State Tourism Industry Association. “They reflect the increasing sophistication of the visitor industry and the enlightened perspective of the intricate ecosystem of the visitor economy. The addition of Tourism Excellence Workshops in 2025 further enhanced the attendee experience, enabling them to learn from and appreciate the significance and relevance of the work being recognized.”

This year’s winners will receive their awards at a special ceremony and reception this September in Corning.
