Teen Motorcyclist Killed in Oswego County Crash

A 17-year-old Mexico resident died after a single-motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Oswego County.

According to New York State Police, troopers from the Hastings barracks were dispatched at approximately 2:14 p.m. to the area of State Route 3 and Munger Hill Road in the town of Mexico for a reported motorcycle crash.

A preliminary investigation found that the southbound motorcyclist attempted to pass another vehicle before failing to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle left the roadway, struck a tree, and threw the rider from the bike.

The operator was identified as 17-year-old Dalton Cummins of Mexico. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital with serious injuries, where he later died.

State Police said the investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing.
