The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra has named Kyle Lamb as its next Vice President of Education and Community Engagement. He will officially begin the role on August 3.

Lamb joins the RPO from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, where he most recently served as Learning Programs Manager. During his tenure, he helped ensure every fifth-grade student in Cincinnati Public Schools attended an annual Young People’s Concert, launched an Open Rehearsals for Schools program that gave student ensembles behind-the-scenes access to orchestra rehearsals, and expanded digital education resources that have been viewed more than 500,000 times.

“I am thrilled to join the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra,” Lamb said. “Rochester is a uniquely vibrant arts community, and the RPO has a century-long commitment to the community and education. Lots of great work has been done, but there’s still more to do to ensure the RPO shares the power of music with everyone, no matter their age, background, or circumstance.”

Lamb will report to newly appointed RPO President and CEO Tonya McBride Robles and will oversee the orchestra’s education and community engagement initiatives. Those programs include educational concerts for pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students, the orKIDStra concert series, the Around the Town concert series, the Orchestral Program for Urban Students (OPUS), and the Care & Wellness initiative.

He will also oversee the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, represent the RPO in the ROCmusic Collaborative, and serve as the organization’s liaison with the Rochester Philharmonic League in support of its education programs.

RPO Board Chair Katherine Lindahl said Lamb’s experience makes him well-suited for the position.

“Kyle brings a rare combination of artistic experience, educational expertise, and a genuine passion for connecting communities through music,” Lindahl said. “His leadership will help strengthen the RPO’s commitment to creating meaningful and inclusive experiences that reach students, families, and audiences throughout the Greater Rochester area.”

A trained music educator and percussionist, Lamb has taught students of all ages in classroom and private settings while maintaining an active career as a percussion instructor since 2014. He earned bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Lamb said he looks forward to building on the RPO’s longstanding educational mission.

“Music has the power to inspire curiosity, build relationships, and create meaningful experiences for people of all ages,” he said. “I look forward to working with the RPO’s talented musicians, staff, and community partners to continue expanding opportunities for people to engage with orchestral music.”
