A portion of Oakwood Avenue in Elmira Heights will close for four days next week while crews complete sidewalk work.
The New York State Department of Transportation said Oakwood Avenue will be closed between West 16th and West 17th streets from Tuesday, July 21, through Friday, July 24. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
A posted detour will direct drivers to West 17th Street and Glenwood Avenue. Motorists should expect delays and consider using alternate routes.
The construction schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Drivers are reminded to slow down in work zones. Speeding fines are doubled, and two or more work-zone speeding convictions could result in a driver’s license suspension.
