A public hearing on Wednesday will let Fair Haven residents weigh in on a proposed law affecting vacation rentals in the village.

Local Law No. 1 of 2026 would regulate short-term rentals, such as Airbnb, in the village and require those owning short-term rentals to obtain a Short-Term Rental Permit.

The village claims regulating short-term rentals is necessary to protect public health, safety, and welfare, while opponents argue the law would violate their rights as property owners.

The public hearing will take place at 5:30p at the Fair Haven Village Fire Hall.
