Students at Palmyra-Macedon Intermediate School put their reading skills to the test this week during the school’s annual Battle of the Books competition.
The after-school program challenges third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students to read and study a list of 18 books, along with their authors and key details, before competing in a quiz-style event. The competition, often described as a high-energy trivia contest centered on literature, wrapped up Tuesday afternoon as teams faced off to demonstrate their knowledge.
This year’s winners included the team “Penguin Cheeseburgers,” which took top honors among third graders, and “Teachers’ Kids,” which won the combined fourth- and fifth-grade division.
School officials praised all participants for their effort and enthusiasm, noting the program encourages teamwork while fostering a love of reading.
