Thirty-eight years ago today, August 14th, 1985, was the last time Kristin O’Connell was seen alive.
The 20-year-old college student from Minnesota was visiting friends in Ovid when she left a party and was last seen walking along County Road 139, the road that leads from the Golden Buck to Route 96A. Her body was found the next day in a cornfield. She was naked, stabbed in the chest and her throat was slashed.
Police have chased over 2,000 leads in the case but have never made an arrest.
In June, before today’s anniversary, billboards were put up around Ovid with O’Connell’s picture asking for anyone with information to call police.
