Geneva’s Director of Planning and Economic Development is leaving.
City Manager Amie Hendrix announced on Tuesday that David West has accepted another position and will be leaving City employment effective May 21.
“David has been a core member of our leadership team, and we are thankful for the positive impact he has had on Geneva,” said Hendrix in a news release. “Throughout his time here, he has been instrumental in fostering the growth and development of the City, particularly in securing additional housing opportunities and obtaining grant funding for infrastructure improvements, small businesses, and homeowners. We wish him all the best in his future pursuits.”
West has been with the city since the end of July 2023 after serving as planner for Danby in Tompkins County.
“It has been a great honor to serve the people of Geneva for the last two years, and I have genuinely enjoyed being a part of this team,” said West. “I am proud of the talented City staff, especially those in Planning & Economic Development, and what we have accomplished together, and I know that positive things will continue to flow from our achievements. I will continue to be a booster for the City of Geneva and the bold Uniquely Urban vision the community has set out.”
Hendrix added the city has begun the process of honing the role of a successor to ensure a seamless transition for the work of the Planning and Economic Development Department. In the meantime, current staff members will share the responsibilities of the position as the recruitment process takes place.
