The Waterloo school budget was voted down Tuesday by just one vote. The final count was 296-No, and 295-Yes.
The margin of defeat could have been a little larger had it not been for absentee votes. The were a total of seven absentee votes mailed into the school district. Six were in favor of the budget proposition, one was against for the 296 to 295 total.
