UPDATE:

The Waterloo Police Department  provided the following information regarding Monday morning’s fire at Connie’s Diner:

On July 29th, at about 9:27 am, members of the Waterloo Police Department and Waterloo Fire Department were dispatched to Connie’s Diner, 205 East Main St, in the Village of Waterloo for a fire alarm. Upon arrival, smoke was found inside the building and the call was upgraded to a structure fire and mutual aid was requested. Fire was found inside the soffit/roof of the business and was extinguished quickly.

The following Fire Departments were dispatched and responded to assist: Seneca Falls, Geneva, Border City, Fayette, Clyde, Junius, and Oaks Corners. The Seneca County and Ontario County Fire Coordinator were at the scene, as well as North Seneca Ambulance. East Main Street was shut down for approximately one hour and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and Waterloo Fire Police assisted with traffic control.

The Seneca County Fire Investigation Team and New York State Fire Investigators responded and ruled the cause of the fire to be accidental, caused by arcing electrical that made surrounding combustible materials to ignite.

A fire Monday morning was reported in the ceiling at Connie’s Diner in Waterloo.  It’s the second fire at the Waterloo favorite diner since a fire in August 2021

When firefighters arrived on the scene just before 10 am, smoke filled the building.  Firefighters had to cut the roof to help find the source of the fire.

Waterloo, Seneca Falls, Fayette, Tyre, Junius, Clyde, and Geneva Fire Department responded to the scene along with North Seneca Ambulance.

The Seneca County Fire Investigation Team is looking for the cause of the fire.
