When is Memorial Day, not on a Monday?  Today.

Waterloo, the Birthplace of the National Holiday, holds its Memorial Day commemoration on the traditional date of May 30th.

Military Services will be held this morning at the village’s three cemeteries. The National Memorial Day Museum is open from noon to five. The Memorial Day parade begins at 6 tonight, and ceremonies in Lafayette Park begin at 6:30.

Waterloo was proclaimed the Birthplace of Memorial Day in 1966 by President Lyndon B. Johnson.

The current Celebrate/Commemorate weekend was started 25 years ago.
