The Seneca Falls Town Board this week rejected a draft 15-year host community agreement between the town and the Seneca Meadows Landfill.
The board tabled a motion that would have authorized the Memorandum of Understanding by a 3-2 vote. Board members Kaitlyn Laskoski, Dawn Dyson, and Steve Churchill voted to reject the agreement, while Frank Sinicropi and Town Supervisor Mike Ferrara voted against tabling the agreement. No date was set for a future vote on the matter.
Seneca Meadows is seeking a state permit for it’s proposed Valley Infill project. If the state Department of Environmental Conservation grants the permit, SMI could operate through 2040.
The host community agreement would have been worth $173-million dollars for the town over the next 15-years.
