After being suspended with pay following the arrest of her boss for drunken driving, one Macedon police sergeant has left her position. The Macedon town board accepted the resignation of Bridgette Goodfriend after she accepted a lateral transfer to another law enforcement agency.
After then-Police Chief Fabian Rivera was involved in an accident with his patrol car on November 20th, Sgt. Goodfriend gave her boss a ride home after reviewing a tape of the crash that showed he was at fault. After getting home, Rivera got into his personal car and started to drive away. Sgt. Goodfriend reportedly called Rivera and asked him to return home where he complied with field sobriety tests. She was suspended days later pending the outcome of an internal investigation, in which 13 WHAM reports have been completed, but the results have yet to be made public.
Rivera resigned one day following his arrest and has pleaded not guilty to a pair of DWI charges.
