Opponents of Seneca Meadows plans to expand the Seneca Falls landfill say a letter of opposition, signed by 558 businesses across from the state, has been sent to Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The owner of the landfill, Waste Connections of Texas, has a state operating permit that expires December 31st, 2025. The company has submitted an application to expand the landfill upward a move that, if approved, would extend the life of the landfill to 2040.
According to the Finger Lakes Times, there are several local businesses that signed the letter.
Among the local names listed as signers are Billsboro Winery, the Committee to Preserve the Finger Lakes, Beef ’N’ Brew, Bottomless Brewing, Bunnell Associates, the Seneca Falls Environmental Action Committee, Seneca Lake Guardian, Anthony Road Wine Co., Swedish Hill Vineyards, Thirsty Owl Wine Co., Three Brothers Wineries & Estates, Twisted Rail Brewing Co., Vance Metal Fabricators, Ventosa Vineyards, Waterloo Container, Belhurst Castle, Fox Run Vineyards, Ginny Lee Café, Knapp Vineyards, Lake Drum Brewing, Stomping Grounds, Stoneboat Computing Solutions, Qwik Solar, Red Jacket Orchards, Lake City Hobby, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard, Hipshot Products, and Geneva Bicycle Center.
