New Life For Burned Out Geneva Plaza

The Finger Lakes Mini Mart in Geneva, part of a plaza damaged by fire, is pictured with boarded-up windows and a chain-link fence.

The Geneva City Council tonight will consider approving an application for Restore New York funding for several projects including the redevelopment of the former Madia’s plaza at the corner of Castle and Oak Streets.

A fire gutted the plaza in May 2022. Plans for the redevelopment call for the demolition of part of the plaza and a new 22,000 square-foot mixed-use, two story building with commercial space on the first floor and 10-apartments on the second floor.

Three other projects around the city would also be part of the Restore New York application.
