Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a serious single-vehicle crash that caused extensive property damage Friday afternoon at the intersection of New York State Route 488 and Waddell Road in Clifton Springs.

According to authorities, deputies responded to the scene around 4 p.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed that failed to safely navigate a bend in the roadway amid wet conditions.

Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway and drove through two residential yards, striking a swimming pool and a porch and causing significant damage to structures on both properties.

The driver was identified as Dane Cook, 45, of Brockport. A passenger, Danielle Cook, 43, also of Brockport, was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

One of the occupants was transported by Mercy Flight to a regional trauma center, while the other was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

Multiple emergency agencies assisted at the scene, including Clifton Springs Fire Department, Seneca Castle Fire Department, Manchester Fire Department, Shortsville Fire Department, Phelps Ambulance, Finger Lakes Ambulance, and Mercy Flight.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities said no citations have been issued at this time.
