Two Geneva men have been convicted for their roles in a shooting last year in Auburn.

Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced that Angelo Diaz and Matthew Williams McIntyre, both 27, pled guilty to the charges against them while before the court Friday for scheduled suppression hearings.

Diaz was charged with Attempted Murder, Assault, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon The attempted murder and assault charges were added due to the severity of the injuries sustained by the victim which included a collapsed lung and two fractured ribs.

Williams-McIntyre was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

On November 29, police arrived at Harley’s Pub for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they found that Scott Twiford had been shot in the chest while coming to the aid of his friend, Justin Oram, who had been slashed in the neck after intervening in a fight that had broken outside the State Street bar.

Both men were taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.

Diaz and Williams-McIntyre were located shortly later by State Trooper Andrew Campbell, who was off duty at the time. He also personally apprehended Diaz. For his actions, Campbell was named Troop E Zone 2’s Trooper of the Year.

An investigation determined that Williams-McIntyre handed a .45 caliber handgun that he had transported from Pennsylvania to Diaz who then shot the victim through the window of a vehicle that Williams-McIntyre was driving.

Diaz is expected to receive 10 years determinate prison sentences for each count to run concurrently and five years post-release supervision while Williams-McIntyre is expected to receive four and a half years in prison followed by five years post-release supervision when sentenced on August 22.

Both men were taken to the Cayuga County jail to await sentencing.
