The city of Geneva’s Comptroller has resigned. City Manager Amie Hendrix said Stefanie Newcomb announced her resignation last Friday and will return to the non-profit sector. Her last day with the city will be September 27th.
Newcomb has been appointed Director of Budget and Financial Operations at NUAIR, a New York-based non-profit organization dedicated to fostering economic development through innovations in Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Advanced Air Mobility, aimed at safely integrating these technologies into the national airspace.
Despite leaving September 27th, Hendrix said Newcomb will remain available to help with the 2025 budget process as necessary.
“Making the decision to leave the City of Geneva was difficult,” said Comptroller Newcomb. “I have enjoyed my time with the City and the great working relationships I have established. While I am excited about this new opportunity. I will miss the team members and the amazing work the City is continuing to do.”
Hendrix said to support this transition, the previous City Comptroller, Adam Blowers, will be appointed to serve in an interim capacity for up to six months with the potential to serve longer in a permanent role. The interim appointment will begin on September 23rd and will support budget adoption, and implementation and will provide day-to-day oversight of the City’s financial operations.
“I look forward to returning to the City of Geneva and once again serving the community that I call home,” said Blowers.
“It has been a true delight collaborating with Stefanie over these past two years, and I extend my heartfelt wishes for her success in her new ventures,” said City Manager Hendrix. “I am sincerely thankful that Adam has chosen to rejoin the team, not only to guide us through this time of transition but also to envision the promising next chapter for the City and beyond.”
“I appreciate the service that Comptroller Newcomb provided to the city and wish her well in her new position. I am excited to welcome Interim Comptroller Blowers back to the team and appreciate his willingness to jump right in during the budget season,” said Mayor Steve Valentino.
