For the fourth time, the DEC has extended the deadline for responding to Seneca Meadows, Incorporated’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement for its proposed expansion of the Seneca Falls landfill.

In a statement, the state agency announced that it and Seneca Meadows agreed to push the deadline to January 31. Once the draft plan is accepted for review, the DEC will inform the public about a comment period and any potential public hearings.

Seneca Meadows is the largest landfill in New York State, capable of handling up to 6,000 tons of waste daily. If approved, the expansion would allow the landfill to operate until 2040.
