Three people from the Finger Lakes are among eight people who are now confirmed dead after a boat capsized during a storm in Lake Tahoe, California.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) reports that around 5 p.m. last Saturday, it received multiple reports of a capsized boat in South Lake Tahoe, near D.L. Bliss State Park. Callers indicated that approximately 10 people were in the water near the vessel, with reported wave heights reaching 8 feet. Two people were rescued and taken to a local hospital.
On Tuesday, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Division released the names of the eight victims who tragically passed away:
- Theresa Giullari, 66 years old, from Honeoye;
- James Guck, 69 years old, from Honeoye;
- Stephen Lindsay, 63 years old, from Springwater;
- Paula Bozinovich, 71 years old, from Redwood City, CA;
- Terry Pickles, 73 years old, from Redwood City, CA;
- Joshua Antony Pickles, 37 years old, from San Francisco, CA;
- Peter Bayes, 72 years old, from Lincoln, CA;
- Timothy O’Leary, 71 years old, from Auburn, CA;
In a post on its Facebook page, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office extended its “deepest heartfelt condolences to the families of those who were lost and all those who have been affected by this tragic event.”
