The Ontario County man arrested last week after five horses were found standing in five-to-six feet of manure and the remains of three others were found on his property is facing new charges after police say he pointed a shotgun at them as they were performing a welfare check.
On Sunday, an acquaintance of Alan Scrivener was concerned for the 72-year-old’s health and contacted police. When deputies found him inside his Stoddard Road home, Scrivener allegedly pointed a shotgun at them and did not respond to commands to drop the gun.
Deputies left the home but returned two days later with a warrant and the Ontario County SWAT Team. After being unsuccessful for five hours in making contact with Scrivener, SWAT made its way into the home and found him holed up in a second-story bedroom.
Scrivener was charged with felony menacing a police officer and was released to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
