A longtime member of the Yates County Sheriff’s Office has retired after more than 30 years of service.

Corrections Officer Judy Hoover recently retired from the agency after beginning her career as a part-time corrections officer in 1994. She became a full-time corrections officer in 1997 and served the Sheriff’s Office for more than three decades.

The Sheriff’s Office recognized Hoover’s retirement during a celebration Friday attended by family, friends, current co-workers and former colleagues.

Sheriff Frank Ryan presented Hoover with her retirement award and badge during the event.

In announcing her retirement, the Sheriff’s Office thanked Hoover for her years of service, praising her positive attitude and the impact she had on fellow employees and members of the community throughout her career.
