Motorists traveling on State Route 245 in the Town of Naples should expect delays beginning this week due to scheduled bridge maintenance, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Officials say the roadway will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic over the Naples Creek Overflow near the intersection with State Route 21 starting Tuesday, June 30. Temporary traffic signals will be used to control traffic flow during the work.

The project is expected to continue through the end of July, weather permitting.

Drivers are being advised to expect travel delays, consider alternate routes if possible, and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Transportation officials also remind motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and multiple violations can result in a driver’s license suspension.

The New York State Department of Transportation says construction schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
